Kirkin' of the Tartans
Saint John's honors is Scottish heritage each year by bringing the clans' tartans into the kirk (the church). According to the legend, Highlanders hid pieces of tartan and brought them to church to be secretly blessed when the wearing of the kilt was banned in the Highlands. Celebrated across multiple denominations, the Kirkin' at Saint John's welcomes the Wolf River Pipes and Drums, who provide a Scottish-American flair. The service will be preceded by a marching of the tartans and clans outside, weather permitting. Kilts are welcome. All are invited to join, no Scottish heritage required.
