Adult EducationClasses for Adults In the Upstairs Conference Room
Abraham’s Family Tree Grows
John Sewell leads this continuing discussion class focusing on the family systems in Genesis. Come and see how your own family compares to the antics described in scripture. All are invited, 9:15-10:15am Sundays in the Upstairs Conference Room.
In the Brides Room
Middler’s Class
Join us and discover the empty tomb, the appearance of Jesus on the water, and hear Peter address the crowd at Pentecost as we continue our study of Peter: Fisherman and Shepherd of the Church. This class meets in the Bride’s Room at 9:15-10:15am on Sunday mornings.
Lenten Book Discussion Begins February 26th
Walking Home: From Eden to Emmaus, by Margaret Guenther
Walk on over to Saint John’s Retreat House, 3280 Overland Place, and join Emma Connolly and Darren Elzie in an exploration of Biblical walkers and travel roads both familiar and unfamiliar. We begin every Sunday morning at 9:15am and end at 10:15am on our discussion of Margaret Guenther’s book, Walking Home. Guenther begins this devotional paperback with the story of Adam and Eve’s expulsion from Eden and ends with Jesus’ encounter with the men on the road to Emmaus. On the way, we encounter Hagar, Abraham and Moses, among the many. Come and ponder the spiritual journey of leaving home, escaping exile, and going through uncharted territory. Begins the first Sunday of Lent, February 26th. Please contact Margo Carter at 323-8597, Ext. 10, or margo@stjohnsmemphis.org to register for this class and to reserve your book at $10 each. Books will be available through Margo beginning February 12.

[call the church office if you would like to subscribe to our newsletter or the weekly church e-newsletter for class updates]
For Lent: Self-led Bible Study Almost everyone has a goal of reading the entire Bible in their lifetime. St. John’s wants to take this to another level and ask you to read all four of the Gospels during Lent. We’ve prepared a schedule for you so that you may begin reading the Gospel of Mark on Ash Wednesday and read the last verses in John’s gospel on Easter Day. These schedules will be available in the Tower Room and other locations beginning Sunday, February 12. Please take one to use as your Bible bookmark for Lent. If you’re unable to pick one up, these schedules are also available here on our website.
