YOUTH SUNDAY SCHOOL!!!

Young People in grades 6-12 may attend Christian Formation classes in the Parish Life Center, (PLC,) on Sundays from 9:15-10:15am. We employ the Journey to Adulthood curriculum. For the 2011-12 academic year, the classes are separated by grade into the following divisions:

  • Rite-13, for grades 6 & 7, meets in the Large Meeting Room on the 2nd floor.
  • J2A, for grades 8 & 9, meets in the Youth Room, also on the 2nd floor.
  • Young Adults in Community, (YAC... a lovely acronym,) for grades 10-12, meets in the Youth Directors Office on, you guessed it, the 2nd floor.

2011 Youth Pilgrimage on el Camino de Santiago

On Sunday, May 29th, 18 members of our Youth Community and 4 adult chaperones  embarked on a Pilgrimage to Spain, where we walked a portion of the centuries old Camino de Santiago, or Way of Saint James. This ancient trail begins in France and leads some 500+ miles to the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, where the bones of Saint James are believed to be buried. The Camino has existed as a Christian pilgrimage for well over 1,000 years, and there is evidence of a pre-Christian route as well. Throughout the medieval period it was one of the three most important Christian pilgrimages undertaken. Our group walked the last 75 miles, covering roughly 15 miles a day for 5 consecutive days. Above is a photo of our group as we began our walk in the town of Sarria.
