Family Ministry Associate
Saint John’s Episcopal Church seeks a part-time Family Ministry Associate with a deep and grounded faith to foster authentic relationships with children and their families and support children’s formation classes, family fellowship, community outreach projects, and worship on Sundays. The Family Ministry Associate will be a collaborative part of our program staff and be encouraged to create opportunities that are enjoyable, safe, and developmentally appropriate for our growing parish family at the corner of Central and Greer.
This position will work with children and families of all ages, but primarily focus on classes and events supporting Christian Formation for children up to 5th grade. This role will work closely with the Director of Parish Family to accomplish a substantive and meaningful approach to family ministry, reaching growing children and their parents.
The Family Ministry Associate will be expected to focus on the following areas of parish life including worship, outreach, fellowship, and faith formation:
· Plan and lead Children’s Chapel with the support of volunteer teachers during 10:30am worship on Sundays.
· Attend and support Children’s Formation Classes (when offered) at 9:15am on Sundays.
· Attend and support the planning of all Parish Family events throughout the year.
· Attend and support the planning of Youth Week & Vacation Bible School in June.
· Attend weekly staff meetings on Tuesdays at 10am.
· Create and host fellowship opportunities for grades 3-5 on Sunday afternoons.
· Support goal-driven and/or incentive-based attendance.
· Explore ways to begin a middle-school youth group.
· Know children by name. Communicate with parents and encourage newcomers.

· Organizational and planning skills
· Ability to effectively use multiple communication modes
· Previous experience working with children preferred
· Tech savvy
· Proficient in Word, Excel and Microsoft Office
