Baptism at Saint John's

Holy Baptism is the sacramental rite of full initiation, by water and the Holy Spirit, into membership in the Christian church. All members of the congregation renew their own Baptismal Covenant and welcome the newly baptized into the community of faith on baptismal days.

Baptism is administered either in the context of the Eucharist on a Sunday or one of the feast days listed below. For more information or to schedule a baptism, contact Miranda Cully Griffin: miranda [at] stjohnsmemphis [dot] org or 323-8597.

Guild of the Christ Child

What is the Guild of the Christ Child?

A unique ministry that serves to support families with children ages 0-4. The Guild works towards supporting families before and after the birth or adoption of a child, celebrating with families at the time of their child’s baptism, improving our nursery facilities and planning some activities for the young children and their families. We hope to help each family and young child find their place within the Saint John’s family, mentoring them along the way.

When families are expecting a child:

The arrival of a new baby is a joyous and anxious time in each family’s life. As a church family, we share the joy and excitement.  We also know that this can be an exhausting and worrisome time for parents. A member of Guild of the Christ Child will offer support in the forms of prayers, presence and hospitality during this time.

At your child’s Baptism:

The Sacrament of Holy Baptism is celebrated throughout the year and the Guild of the Christ Child will help celebrate this joyous occasion by offering gifts to the child and recognizing the importance of Baptism with each family.

A time for fellowship:

Throughout the year, the Guild offers several events where young families can meet and get to know one another. These events are an opportunity for each family to get together in a relaxed environment and support each other during the season of raising young children.
